Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found that it is misleading, as it turned out that the clip is old and had been posted on YouTube since 2015. The video depicts people purchasing oil during a special offer period at a LIDL store in France.

It was posted in 2015, confirming that it is unrelated to Russia's war on Ukraine.

It is worth noting that there is no news of a food crisis in France due to the Russian war on Ukraine. However, French Agriculture Minister, Julian Denormandy, said there was a risk of a "food crisis on a global scale" due to the Ukraine crisis.

The allegation began to circulate following Russia's declaration of war on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and in light of the continuation of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in an attempt to resolve the two parties' dispute.
