Emerging story
Social media accounts across the MENA region shared a video of a small plane crashing into a Turkish elementary school's football field. Some users shared the video without providing any context.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found that it was fake. The video clip contains computer-generated imagery (CGI); in this case, two separate videos were superimposed and edited to depict a plane crash during a football game.
Inspecting the Plane Crash Video
When the plane makes contact with the ground, one of the young players continues to walk in the plane's direction, walking through the wing of the aircraft. Following the same player, he continues to walk after the crash and does not even turn around. Furthermore, the other players can be seen continuing their match as usual. Another player had tackled the player who had fallen (visible in the original video further below). The video unexpectedly ends here. Stills from the scenes are shown below.
Photo Description: Players seems to walk through the wing of the plane.
Photo Description: None of the players react to the crash.
Based on these findings, it was determined that the video is not real and was edited.
Computer Generated Plane Crash Scene
Further investigation revealed that the 'plane crash' scene is an animated effect from the website Envato Market. The effect is available for purchase and download from the website, and it can be used in any project. Envato Market is an online marketplace where users can buy and sell "graphic templates, website themes, photos, video, or audio." Below is a screenshot of the plane crash scene for sale on the site.

Football Match in the United States
Furthermore, the football match clip was posted on a YouTube channel called "Soccer Express Broadcasts" on May 28, 2018, not in Turkey. The nearly three-minute-long video, titled "Parents Out of Control," captures the moment two players tackle during a football game, despite protests from the parents in the stadium.
On June 4, 2018, the same channel released a longer video of the match's highlights, claiming it was from a semi-final match between two teams at Richland College Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
Based on the findings the Misbar team confirms that the video is computer-generated, it was created by superimposing the plane crash purchased on Envato Market on top of the video of the children playing football, at the exact moment that two players tackled each other.
