Twitter users have circulated an image purportedly showing the husband of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a black eye after his arrest on suspicion of drunk driving.
Misbar’s Analysis
After investigating the photo, Misbar discovered that it had been digitally altered. Our team could not find a credible source that posted the photo or mentioned that Pelosi had a black eye.
The image was altered to make Mr. Pelosi appear to have a black eye, with his hair shaggy and his face pale.
The original photograph, however, was taken in 2016. It depicts Paul Pelosi wearing a black suit and standing alongside his wife Nancy Pelosi at the pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills.
Paul Pelosi’s Arrest
On May 28, 2022, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was arrested for drunk driving following a two-vehicle collision in California.
According to reports, Paul Pelosi was driving a 2021 Porsche when he was hit by a 2014 Jeep while attempting to cross a state road in Napa County. Mr. Pelosi was released on $5,000 bail the next day.
