Social media users are sharing an image, which purportedly shows a Time Magazine’s cover merging photo of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with that of Adolf Hitler. Social media users are sharing the image with the hashtag “#byebyemodi.”
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake, the photo was fabricated.
Time Magazine
Misbar noticed a difference in the design, which does not match Time magazine’s usual style. We conducted a search on Time Magazine’s website and found that the cover circulating online has not been designed by the magazine.
Misbar also searched for the cover on Time Magazine’s social media accounts, no results were found.
Two Bjp Spokespersons Made Offensive Remarks About the Prophet Muhammad
The circulating claim is being shared after two spokespersons of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made offensive remarks about the prophet Muhammad. This was followed by several incident of Islamophobia in India.
