Emerging story
Social media users are circulating a claim purporting that the Uvalde shooter was involved in a setup. The claim purports that the equipment used in the shooting attack was unaffordable to the shooter.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated this circulating claim and found it to be misleading.
The Uvalde Shooter
The shooter, Salvador Ramos, had been employed at a fast-food restaurant, Wendy’s, until about two weeks before the shootings, as many media outlets reported.
The Texas Tribune reported that Ramos legally bought two AR platform rifles in May 2022.
Moreover, several media outlets reported that Ramos had previously expressed his intentions of purchasing guns and weapons to colleagues at Wendy’s.
Based, on these findings, Misbar confirms that the claim is misleading. Nothing proves that Ramos was involved in a planned conspiracy set-up.
