Pages and social media users on Facebook and Twitter have recently circulated a video clip purportedly from the July 1 eruption of the Loutulu volcano in Indonesia.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and discovered it to be misleading. The video circulating was uploaded to YouTube on November 29, 2020, and depicts the eruption of the volcano Leutolu in Indonesia.
On November 29, 2020, the media published still images from the video clip and reported that it was from the Loutulu volcano eruption, which emitted smoke and ash from a height of 4 km on the Indonesian island of Lublin.
28 Villages Evacuated After Ili Lewotolok Erupted in 2020
International and Indonesian media reported an Ili Lewotolok eruption in November 2020. According to the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Risk Mitigation Agency's Raditi Jati, 2,800 people were evacuated from 28 villages on the volcano's slopes. No deaths or injuries were reported.

According to Indonesian media, the Volcano Monitoring Center observed the July 1 eruption of the 700-meter-high Lyutulu volcano on Mount Il Lyutulu in East Nusa Tenggara Province.
The monitoring center advised residents not to engage in activities within a 3 km radius of the summit, a 3.5 km radius for the southeastern sector, and a 4 km radius for the eastern and northeastern sectors.
