Video of Biden Being Heckled by A Protester is Digitally Altered
The video has been digitally altered (Twitter).

The Claim

A video shows U.S. President Joe Bidenā€™s speech about gun control on July 11, which was interrupted by a furious protester, asking Biden about Hunter Bidenā€™s leaked files.

Emerging story

Social media users have recently circulated a video purporting to show a protester interrupting U.S. President Joe Biden while he was giving a speech on gun control on July 11. In the video, the protester vehemently asks about the presidentā€™s opinion regarding Hunter Biden's recent leaked files, which shows ā€œHunter arguing with a hooker about how much crack he has.ā€

Misbarā€™s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.

After searching carefully and investigating U.S. President Joe Bidenā€™s speech on gun control on July 11, Misbar found that the protesterā€™s voice in the video is digitally changed.

The official video of Bidenā€™s speech, which was published online by many news outlets, shows that the protester was Manuel Oliver, and his remarks were different from the video circulated by Twitter users.

According to the White Houseā€™s transcript of the conference, the protesterā€™s words were, ā€œWe have to do more than that! We have to open an office in the White House. (Inaudible.) Iā€™ve been trying to tell you this for years. (Inaudible.)ā€

The Gun Control Conference on July 11

On Monday, July 11, the White House received hundreds of survivors and family members of victims of mass shootingsā€”including those at Uvalde, Buffalo, Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, Aurora, Colo., Tucson, Ariz., Parkland, Fla., Santa Fe, N.M. and the recent Fourth of July parade shooting in Highland Park, Ill.ā€”to promote newly enacted bipartisan gun legislation.

The conference was an opportunity for President Biden to respond to the critics by highlighting the first major federal gun safety act in three decades, which he signed into law last month. The new law will protect states from dangerous individuals obtaining guns.

However, Manuel Oliver, whose 17-year-old son, Joaquin, was one of 14 students and three staff members killed at a high school in Parkland, Florida, in 2018, interrupted President Biden's speech. He yelled at the president, asking him to ā€œdo more than that!ā€

On July 11, Manuel Oliver expressed his frustration with U.S. President Bidenā€™s celebration of the new law in a tweet, saying that celebration has no space in American society due to the repeated shootings.

Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden, the U.S. Presidentā€™s son, has been the subject of debates on social media and news outlets lately.

During a divorce filing in 2017, Ms. Buhle, Hunter's ex-wife, accused Hunter of ā€œspending extravagantly on his own interestsā€”including drugs, alcohol, prostitutes, strip clubs, and gifts for women with whom he has sexual relationsā€”while leaving the family with no funds to pay legitimate bills.ā€

Hunter has publicly admitted doing regretful things, according to his widely circulated leaked files, but he and his father have denied that he has transgressed the law.
