Emerging story
A viral video purports to show the moon rising in the “Artice” circle between Russia and Canada.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be fake.
The original video is computer-generated. Moreover, the Arctic circle is presumably misspelt as "the Artice circle” in the circulating claim.
Computer Generated Art
Misbar has previously verified this video, which circulated with a different claim.
Misbar’s team was able to trace the video to the Ukrainian artist Aleksey Patrev. The video can be seen posted on an NFT exchange website. The artist is known for creating similar CGI animated videos.
Computer Generated Art
CGI is an abbreviation for computer generated imagery. CGI artists digitally create still and moving images and visual effects. CGI refers mostly to 3D animations created for films, TV, and video games. It also encompasses other specialties in computer graphics such as two-dimensional and three-dimensional special effects.
Based on these findings, Misbar confirms that the claim is fake. Although the video clearly looks unrealistic, it has been shared with different claims and has gone viral multiple times.
