A photo purporting to show a close-up of the human eye has recently gone viral on social media.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake. The viral photo is a digital work of art.

Misbar’s team conducted a reverse image search on Google and was able to trace the image to a digital artist and texture painter called Eugene Filimonov.
Filimonov explains that he collaborated with Roman Lovygin to create this work of art and provides a photo showing the different stages and techniques they used to finalise the artwork.
The work of art has been shared on several platforms that attributed it to the artist.
Misbar also found that the fake claim has been circulating since 2021.
The interaction with the viral photo shows that a large number of people believed the claim without doubting it.
