Emerging story
Social media users recently shared a video clip purporting to show a fire in a building in Sderot alleging that had recently been bombed by the Palestinian resistance.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the claim and discovered it to be misleading. The video clip is old and was uploaded to YouTube on June 8 by a channel that only posted Hebrew-language news from Herzliya. The video shows a fire on the fourth floor of a building in the Herzliya Hills complex.
The clip circulating is not related to Sderot.
Misbar also analyzed the location of the building depicted in the video, as similarities were found between the building depicted in the video and those shown on the maps.
Misbar was unable to confirm the date of filming, but it is certain that it has nothing to do with current events in Palestine.
