Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake. Salman Rushdie does not have an Iranian nationality and was born to an Indian family in in Bombay, India. The city is now known as Mumbai.
Who Is Salman Rushdie?
Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie was born to a Muslim Indian family of Kashmiri origins in 1947. In 1968, he received an MA degree in history from Cambridge University. Rushdie eventually pursued a successful career as a novelist.
His novel “Midnight’s Children” (1981) won him the Booker prize in 1981, the Booker of Bookers in 1993, the Best of the Booker in 2008, and is taught by universities around the world. Despite the accolade that many of his novels received, his novel “The Satanic Verses” (1988) was denounced by many Muslims.

The Attack on Salman Rushdie
On Friday August 12, 2022, a man attacked Salman Rushdie and stabbed him multiple times during a literary event in New York. The attacker was charged with attempted murder and Rushdie is still convalescing.
In addition to the false claim about Rushdie’s origins, some of the claims purported that the writer published a magazine describing The Holy Quran as satanic. Misbar also found this claim to be fake, “The Satanic Verses” is a novel.
