2016 Image from Pakistan Shared in Relation to Sudan's Recent Floods

Furthermore, Misbar found the image, which shows a man walking through a flooded area following heavy rain, to be misleading. The image was not taken in Sudan, it was taken in the outskirts of Peshawar, Pakistan. A MAJEED, an AFP photographer, took the image on April 4, 2016, during Pakistan's floods.

2022 Sudan Floods

Flooding in Sudan has claimed the lives of many people and ruined homes as the country was hit by seasonal rains that cause rivers to overflow.

The spokesman for Sudan's National Council for Civil Defense reported that 83 people have died since the rainy season started in May. According to the spokesman, the provinces most impacted by the seasonal rains are North Kordofan, Gezira, South Kordofan, South Darfur, and River Nile.

25,000–30,000 people have reportedly been affected by the flood disaster, and about nine villages are surrounded by floodwater.

Sudan experiences significant flooding every year. The floods causes substantial damage to property, infrastructure, and crops because of the country's regular heavy rains, which typically occur between May and October.
