Queen Elizabeth II's Death

The misleading photo of King Charles III began circulating after Buckingham Palace announced the death of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning monarch in history, having reigned in the United Kingdom for nearly 70 years. Queen Elizabeth was crowned queen in 1952 after her father, King George VI, died.

Charles III was crowned king immediately after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died.

On September 10, 2022, a historic ceremony officially confirmed his role.

After being crowned at St. James's Palace, Charles III praised the Queen for her "unequaled reign."
