Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found it to be fake.

Misbar’s thorough investigation revealed that the video is digitally altered using the eye and tongue filters on TikTok and Snapchat.

The original video was taken during the Assembly of Serbia’s special session on Kosovo, which was streamed on TV on September 13, 2022.

Misbar kept track of the whole session, which was posted also on YouTube, and found no match between the viral video and the original video.

The Assembly of Serbia’s 2022 Special Session

During a special session of the Assembly of Serbia, President Vučić presented the "Report on the Negotiation Process with the Temporary Institutions of Self-Government in Priština," which covers the period from June 2021 to September 2022. The President stated that he did not believe that an agreement with the current Kosovo leadership was possible, and he urged NATO to respect its mandate and take care of the security of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija rather than implement any decisions.

In front of the MPs, Vučić declared, "Serbia will not recognize the independence of Kosovo directly or indirectly," and he made clear that Serbia had had no part in causing the crisis in Kosovo.

Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in February 2008 after years of strained relations between its Serb and mainly Albanian inhabitants. Serbia, backed by Russia, called the declaration illegal.

Misbar previously spotted claims regarding Snapchat’s viral crying filter and proved its negative impact: "The filter has also been classified as innocent by newspapers, but it is part of a deep falsification technique that integrates grief features with normal facial muscles."
