Emerging story
Social media users are circulating news that Germany has recently halted the use of COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccines, according to users spreading the claim, are unsafe and are no longer recommended by German health officials.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be false.
There has been no official statement or public release that COVID-19 vaccinations have been halted in Germany.
Germany Remains Using COVID-19 Vaccines
Germany, despite the circulating claim, still recommends that everyone over 18 get a COVID-19 vaccine booster.
A representative for the Federal Ministry of Health told The Associated Press that claims that Germany has ceased vaccinations are false.
"Germany has not banned or paused COVID-19 vaccinations," Kira Nübel told the Associated Press in an email.
According to Nübel, Germany is currently expected to receive millions more doses of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.
However, the German government website still recommends that everyone over the age of 18 get a COVID-19 booster.
The Video Does Not Depict Robert Koch Institute’s Director
The video clip that has been making the rounds online did not originate with a livestream of a real-life event related to German health care; rather, it was filmed at a 2021 simulation event called "Basiscamp.live".
The circulating video does not depict the actual Robert Koch Institute director, as claimed.
These are not official federal agency statements, but rather role-playing by the individuals depicted.
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach of Germany tweeted his support for COVID-19 vaccines on September 14, 2022, in an effort to avoid any long-term effects of the disease.
In September 2021, Misbar debunked a similar claim.
