Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. A longer version of the video, which was shared by Russian media outlets and YouTube channels, dates back to 2015.

OTB channel had shared the video back in February 2015 with a Russian description that reads: “Room of fear in the Urals. In Yekaterinburg, the defendant, not wanting to go to court, hid from the bailiffs in the refrigerator. A curious state of emergency occurred in a house down the street Tekhnicheskaya.”

Vladimir Putin’s New Military Mobilization

The Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a “partial mobilization” that aims to add 300,000 reservist soldiers to the front of the battle lines.

The announcement has sparked a wave of protests denouncing the mandatory military mobilization and the war on Ukraine.

President Putin has also signed a decree increasing prison sentences for those escaping mandatory conscription. The sentence was doubled from five to 10 years.

Moreover, soldiers who voluntarily yield to the enemy army could face up to 10 years in prison.

Meanwhile, the Russian president signed another decree allowing foreigners who serve in the Russian army to apply for citizenship without a residence permit.
