Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading.

The video is a scene from an Azerbaijani TV series called “Ata Ocaği.”

A Scene From “Ata OcağI” Taken Out of Context

Misbar’s investigation revealed that the viral video is a dramatic scene from a TV serial, as can be seen below.

The video was shared on YouTube back in October 2021, with a description that reads:

“Dad promised his daughter to dance at her wedding and kept his promise, but unfortunately he danced at her funeral.

The film (Azerbaijani series) is called ATA OCAGI (Ata Ochagi).

The song in the moment where the bride is in the hospital is sung by Dallarımı kırdılar Çinare Melikzade.”

2022 Protests in Iran

On September 16, a 22-year-old Iranian woman called Mahsa Amini was pronounced dead after she was assaulted by members of the Iranian morality police. The latter had reportedly found Amini’s attire inappropriate.

Amini’s death has triggered a massive wave of protests across Iran. Protesters took over the streets chanting “women, life, and freedom.” Some women symbolically burned their headscarves to show solidarity with Amini and protest Iran’s mandatory Hijab policy.

According to the Guardian, at least 41 people have died during the protests.

Misbar has debunked several claims related to the recent ongoing protests in Iran.
