Social media users have recently circulated a video purporting to show parachutists accidentally landing inside a stadium in Uganda.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading. The video was shot in Honduras.

Special Forces Display in Honduras Goes Wrong

Upon conducting a keyword search, Misbar’s team found that the video was shot in Honduras. 

A special forces’ parachute display in Honduras did not go according to plan. Whereas the skydivers were planning to land on the stadium’s football pitch, the wind blew them off course. 

According to the Daily Mail, “One unlucky trooper swooped down at high speeds, overrunning the soft grass and slamming directly into a row or portable toilet.”

Honduras’ 201 Independence Day Celebrations

The incident happened during one of the celebrations of Honduras’ 201 Independence Day. 

Earlier last month, five countries in central America celebrated 201 years of independence from Spain. Central American Independence Day was celebrated by Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
