This video shows a real dragon that was discovered in Mongolia.

A video purporting to show a real dragon that was discovered in Mongolia has gone viral online.

Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found it to be fake. The video shows a dragon model that the Spanish artist Juan Villa Herrero created for a television program called “Cuarto Milenio.”

Upon conducting a thorough investigation, our team found that the artist Juan Villa Herrero has shared a video showing the different steps of building the dragon model in the circulating claim.

The 2016 YouTube video titled “Creating a Dragon for the Cuarto Milenio” has a description in Spanish that reads: “This is how we created step by step in our workshop a Dragon of more than 4 meters for the TV show Cuarto Milenio.”

The video can be seen below.

The artist also shared a video showing the dragon model displayed in a forest.

 

Previous False Claims About the Dragon Model

While researching the circulating claim, Misbar  discovered that the video of the dragon has been shared with different false allegations in the past.

In 2016, the video was alleged to show a dead dragon found in the Philippines.

In 2018, the same video was also shared purporting to show a dragon found in Yemen.

Although several fact-checking platforms debunked the various false claims in the past, the video continues to be shared.
