Facts About Climate Change

NASA asserts that the current global warming is happening at an alarming rate that was not witnessed in the past 10,000 years.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), "Since systematic scientific assessments began in the 1970s, the influence of human activity on the warming of the climate system has evolved from theory to established fact."

Scientific data collected from natural sources and from modern equipments (like satellites) all show the signs of climate change.

According to scientists, global temperature rises and melting ice sheets prove climate change.

What Is Climate Change?

Climate refers to the average weather in a place over an extended period of time. An increase or decrease in the average conditions of weather over time is called climate change. We are now experiencing drastically rapid climate change due to the increasing use of fossil fuels (oil, gas, and coal).

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the main gas released when fossil fuels burn. The gas, which traps the heat of the sun, is accelerating the rise in the planet’s temperature. This is referred to as “the greenhouse effect.”

The Dangers of Climate Change

The continuous rise in the temperature of the planet will create uninhabitable spaces. Climate change will lead to more frequent and intense droughts, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers, and warmer oceans. All of these changes will have a direct negative impact on human livelihood and the fauna and flora of planet Earth.

A more extreme result of climate change would be the extinction of life on Earth.

COP 27

The claim is being shared as the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) takes place in Egypt.

Heads of states, ministers, climate activists, politicians, civil society representatives, and business CEOs are meeting in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for the largest annual convention on climate change and climate action. The event began on November 6 and will conclude on November 18.

António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, opened the convention with an alarming warning to global leaders.
