The Inauguration of Al Thumama Stadium

In October 2021, Qatar unveiled Al Thumama Stadium, one of the venues for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The stadium, which was designed by the Qatari architect Ibrahim M. Jaidah, was inaugurated in the presence of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

According to FIFA’s website, the stadium was "designed to resemble the ‘gahfiya’ head cap worn by men and boys across the Arab world.”
