Pele is Receiving Palliative Care
According to reliable media outlets, Pelé, the 82 Brazilian football legend, is receiving palliative care after chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer failed.
The Brazilian daily newspaper Folha de S. Paulo reported that chemotherapy had now been suspended and that Pelé is only treated only for symptoms such as pain and shortness of breath.
On Thursday, Pelé posted a photo in which a picture of him is projected on a building in Qatar with a text that reads: "Get well soon."
"Friends, I am at the hospital making my monthly visit," Pelé said in the post, adding: "It's always nice to receive positive messages like this. Thanks to Qatar for this tribute, and to everyone who sends me good vibes!"
Pele’s daughter also shared a post regarding her father’s health: "Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad's health. He is in the hospital regulating medication." Nascimento added: "There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Years and promise to post some pictures."

He was named FIFA co-Player of the Century. Diego Maradona and Pelé were joint winners of the award.
Pelé was awarded the International Peace Award in 1978 for his work with UNICEF. He has also served as a United Nations ambassador for ecology and the environment.
