Moreover, Misbar’s team thoroughly examined Boufal’s social media accounts and found that he did not post anything suggesting that his mother passed away. The news was not reported by any reliable media outlets either.

According to Moroccan media outlets, on December 26, an account that belongs to Sofiane Boufal’s brother shared an Instagram story featuring the mother’s photo with a caption that reads: “She is doing well, thank God.”

The Instagram story has been shared by several Moroccan media outlets, such as “Chouf TV,” and “Chouf Sport,” as can be seen below.

Up to the time of publishing this fact-check, there were no confirmed reports regarding the death of Sofiane Boufal’s mother.
