Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. The video shows a French man violently moving climate change activists from the road.
Climate Activists Block Mount Blanc Tunnel
After conducting a reverse image search, Misbar’s team found that the video dates back to at least December 1.
According to social media posts and French media outlets, the man in the video was dragging climate activists who had blocked the traffic in protest.
Many media outlets also shared the video with a description that clarifies: “France: Public physically move climate change protesters.”
According to Reuters, French and Italian climate activists blocked entrances to the Mont Blanc tunnel in Chamonix on the French side and in Courmayeur on the Italian side to raise awareness about climate change.
