Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading. Andrew Tate had already indicated that he was in Romania via his social media accounts.
According to Associated Press, Tate recently posted a video on Twitter of a mountainous region of Romania, where he is reported to have lived for the last five years.
Moreover, Ramona Bolla, a spokesperson from DIICOT, Romania's anti-organized crime agency, refuted the claim. Bolla had told Associated Press that the claim was funny, yet inaccurate.
Andrew Tate Provokes Greta Thunberg
The claim is circulating after Andrew Tate’s arrest. Earlier before the arrest, Tate had provoked the environmental activist Greta Thunberg in a post boasting about the "enormous emissions" produced by his cars.
He later posted a video featuring Romanian Pizza boxes, which triggered the misinformation regarding the circumstances of his arrest.
