These Photos Do Not Show the Recent Snowfall in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

Misbar investigated the circulating photos and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar's team found the viral photos to be outdated and unrelated to the recent snowfall in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Outdated Photos of Snow in Saudi Arabia

The first circulating photo shows a herd of camels with their backs covered with snow.

The earliest publishing date of the photo was on December 14, 2020.

A Facebook page called "Love IN Makkah Medina" published the photo with the caption, "Winter in Saudi Arabia."

The second viral photo is also outdated.

In January 2015, the New Khalij website published the photo in an article about a Saudi “Fatwa on the prohibition of making snowmen.”

The third circulating photo shows a man sitting in a snow-covered desert.

The Sabq online newspaper published the photo along with other photos in a 2018 article.

The fourth photo shows a man playing with a snowball.

Misbar's team found the photo first published in a 2011 blog.

The fifth viral photo shows two camels in front of a snow-covered mountain. 

A Twitter user called Ahmad Nabeel published the photo on January 10, 2020. The photo’s caption reads, “Snow in Saudi Arabia deserts (Tabuk).”

The sixth photo shows snow covering a street and mountain in Turaif, Saudi Arabia.

On January 19, 2022, the online Egyptian newspaper “Gate Ahram” published the photo.

Snowfall in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

The photos circulated following a hail storm that hit the two Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Videos showing Kuwait City's roads covered with hail quickly went viral on social media.
