During the recent snowfall in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, social media users circulated a set of photos purporting to show the snow in the two countries.

Misbar investigated the circulating photos and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar's team found the viral photos to be outdated and unrelated to the recent snowfall in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The first circulating photo shows a herd of camels with their backs covered with snow.

The earliest publishing date of the photo was on December 14, 2020.

A Facebook page called "Love IN Makkah Medina" published the photo with the caption, "Winter in Saudi Arabia."

In January 2015, the New Khalij website published the photo in an article about a Saudi “Fatwa on the prohibition of making snowmen.”
