The image first surfaced on June 14, 2022, following an Israeli attack targeting Syria’s main civilian airport in Damascus and shutting down its facilities.

Damascus International Airport Went Out of Service

On Monday, January 2, 2023, Israeli missiles struck Damascus International Airport, putting it out of service, Associated Press reported. This incident left two soldiers killed and two others wounded.

The attack occurred after midnight and was the second in seven months to put the airport out of service.  

Images featuring the damage were shared online. However, the picture featured in the circulating claim is unrelated to the incident.
