Outdated Photos of Snow Resurface
The first viral photo shows snow covering the surface of outdoor furniture.
The photo was first shared via Twitter on December 20, 2021.
A Twitter user with the handle “@Ahmed ElTobgy_” posted the photo with the caption: "The heavy snows are covering the surface of Saint Catherine in Egypt."
The second circulating photo shows two camels in front of a snow-covered mountain.
A Twitter user with the handle “@DrAhmad_Nabeel” shared the photo on January 10, 2020. The photo’s caption reads, “Snow in Saudi Arabia deserts (Tabuk).”
Snowfall in the Egyptian City of Saint Catherine
On January 3, snow covered the mountain peaks in the city of Saint Catherine in the South Sinai Governorate, followed by moderate rainfall.
The city’s temperature dropped below zero with expectations of reaching 7 degrees below zero, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority.
Major General Talaat Al-Anani, the head of the city of Saint Catherine, issued a statement warning of snowfall and urging climbers to be cautious and follow the instructions of Bedouin guides.
Al-Anani stated that the city has reached the maximum level of readiness and is prepared with heavy equipment to sweep the snow.
