Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the circulating video to be outdated and unrelated to the recent turmoil in Mexico.

Misbar’s team found the video posted on Facebook by a page called "Venta de equipo Tactico."

On August 21, 2021, the video was posted with the Spanish caption "INFANTERIA DE MARINA," which means in English "Marine Corps."

The video was shared during the recent clashes between security forces and gangsters in Mexico.

Multiple news outlets reported that Mexican authorities arrested Ovidio Guzman, the son of the notorious drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman, known as El Chapo.

After his father's arrest, Ovidio Guzman rose to prominence in the Sinaloa Cartel. He was arrested and temporarily detained by Mexican authorities in October 2019.
