Emerging story
Social media users shared a photo purporting to show a hanging hotel. While some internet users claimed that the hotel is located in Greece, others purported that it is located in Italy.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating photo and found the claim to be misleading.
After conducting a reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photo making the rounds to be CGI.
Photo of the Hanging Hotel is Digitally Designed
The photo was first published on January 2 by an Instagram account under the name "The Line."
The photo’s caption clarifies that it is a design of "Hotel Del Mar," not a real photo.
The account’s bio states that the account is for architectural design. The account shared many visualization photos of place concept designs.
Searching on the company’s official website, Misbar’s team found photos of the same design of the hotel.
As the title suggests, "FULL CGI_HOTEL DEL MAR," the photos are computer-generated.
