Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake. The image was tampered with digitally.

The photo was taken by the photographer John Lund, who shared it on his website with a description that clarifies: “A road winds its way and into the mouth of a monster mountain under a stormy sky. The mountain of madness was photographed on the island of Socotra and manipulated in Photoshop to create the angry face effect.”
