Social media users recently widely shared an image that purportedly shows a formal notice from the Bank of Uganda.

According to the viral claim, the Bank of Uganda banned the misuse of money bills in the form of gifts.

Many interacted with the document in anticipation of Valentine’s Day, thanking the bank for saving them from unnecessary expenditure.

Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be fake. The notice is fabricated. 

Fake Document Attributed to the Bank of Uganda

Misbar’s team found that the Bank of Uganda issued a statement warning people of the fake document, as can be seen below.
