Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photos to be unrelated to the recent Turkey-Syria earthquake.

The Traffic is Unrelated to Lebanese Aid to Syria

Although the photos show traffic on Dahr el Baidar Road in Lebanon, they have nothing to do with earthquake relief efforts.

The photographer, Maher Barake‎‏, posted the photos on his Facebook account with a caption that reads: "Daher al baydar traffic."

Misbar’s Arabic team contacted the photographer, who explained that the photos were taken on February 10, 2023, at 6:00 p.m.

According to the photographer, the accumulation of snow caused traffic on the road at the time.

Lebanon Provided Aid to Syria

The Lebanese Army sent 15 engineers to Syria and 20 to Turkey to aid in rescue operations in those two countries.

The Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamieh, stated: "It is our duty to stand by Syria despite the difficult economic conditions we are going through."

Additionally, he declared that all taxes and fees would be waived for any humanitarian supplies that arrived at Lebanon's ports and airports.

On February 12, France 24 reported that Syria's earthquake-stricken province of Latakia received a convoy of 23 trucks bearing food and medical supplies from Lebanon's Hezbollah.
