This Video Shows the 2022 Fukushima Earthquake

Contrary to the circulating claim, the video dates back to March 16, 2022. The video was shot when a 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit eastern Japan.

Corriere TV published the same video on March 16, 2022, in an article titled "Japan: Powerful earthquake hits Fukushima coast, impressive sway of buildings."

Another website, La Stampa, published the same video in an article about the earthquake at the time.

 A 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Hit Japan in 2022

On March 16, 2022, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Japan late at night.

The Fukushima prefecture in eastern Japan was rocked by the quake, which ravaged the area 11 years ago when a massive earthquake and tsunami caused a nuclear power facility to melt down.

The earthquake's initial magnitude was said to be 7.3, but was later upgraded to 7.4. Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued for the coastal prefectures of Fukushima and Miyagi, but it was lifted later.

Japan's Recent 6.1 Magnitude Earthquake

On Saturday, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake was reported to have occurred off the eastern coast of Hokkaido, an island in northern Japan.No tsunami alert was raised and no injuries or damage were reported right away.

The National Research Center for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience estimates that the earthquake occurred 61 kilometers (38 miles) offshore of the Nemuro peninsula (NIED).
