3D and CGI Can Be Used to Generate Misinformation

Many claims and false narratives on social media were based on mind-blowing 3D and CG videos considered authentic. The Strangeness of such content excites the users and pushes them to interact with the claim to gain more attention and credibility.

CGI or computer-generated imagery refers to the process of using technologies and imaging software to create static or animated visual content. It is often used to generate images and videos for numerous purposes, including visual art, modeling, design, television shows, video games, and cinematographic materials. However, it can also be used to generate misinformation.

Similarly, 3D animation refers to the process of taking digital objects and making them come to life by creating the illusion that they’re moving through a three-dimensional space. 3D animations may be based on CG visuals on two-dimensional screens crafted to mimic real-life 3D movements. In general, three-dimensional (3D) visuals are often connected with CGI. Meanwhile, CGI can also create two-dimensional (2D) effects.
