After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the viral video to be outdated and unrelated to the recent earthquake in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
This Video Shows the 2023 Turkey Earthquake
The official YouTube account of CNBC-TV18 uploaded the video to YouTube on February 6, showing the earthquake that hit Turkey at the time.
The video’s title reads, “Turkey Earthquake: Building Collapses After The Earthquake Hits Turkey.”
Turkey-Syria Earthquake in 2023
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake in southeast Turkey occurred on February 6, 2023, not far from the Syrian border.
At a depth of 11 miles, the first earthquake struck close to Nurda in the province of Gaziantep (17.9 km).
The area has experienced thousands of aftershocks after the first earthquake, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations.
Tens of thousands of people were killed as a result of the numerous earthquakes that occurred.
2023 Afghanistan-Pakistan Earthquake
On Tuesday night, large portions of Pakistan and Afghanistan were shaken by a strong earthquake that left at least 19 people dead and more than 200 injured.
Buildings were damaged by the 6.5-magnitude earthquake, which also caused landslides and forced residents to flee into the streets.
The earthquake was centered in a hilly area in northern Afghanistan, close to the Pakistani border.
Ten of the deaths were reported in Afghanistan. In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in the northwest, there were nine further fatalities.
