Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading . The photo does not feature billionaire Elon Musk’s bedroom, as claimed.
‘gaut,’ a Twitter user, published the photo and tweeted, "Elon Musk is worth $188 billion.One of the richest people in the world. This is his bedroom."
Elon Musk replied to the user’s tweet, "Not totally wrong. Slept on a friend's couch last weekend."
The Photo Was Previously Published on Twitter
After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the original photo published on Twitter.
On May 3, 2022, the photo was published by a Twitter user called "Peary."
It seems that the photo features the Twitter user’s room, as the photo’s caption reads, "New apartment same style."
Elon Musk Lives in $45,000 House in Texas
On August 5, 2022, CBC News reported that the owner and CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, said that he lives in a $45,000 house, chiefly because of its location in Boca Chica, Texas, near his SpaceX facility.
Musk claimed that the house "cost like $45,000 or something" in a podcast.
The property where SpaceX is constructing "a giant rocket" is next to the house, according to Musk.
He also mentioned that he has a boxable tiny home in Boca Chica, where he receives guests and friends.
