Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating photo and found it to be fake. A reverse image search revealed the photo to be photoshopped.

This Is Not a Real Photo of the Tower Bombing

Misbar’s team found the original photo published by a Twitter account on August 26, 2013.

According to the publisher, the photo shows Burj Al-Fateh in Khartoum, Sudan.

Misbar’s team compared the circulating photo with the original photo and found they are very similar.

The wall, the writing on the wall, Corinthia, the name of the hotel, the trees, and the street all look the same in the two photos.

Misbar’s team searched online to check if the tower had been bombed before and found no media outlets reporting this news since the hotel’s inception.

Burj Al-Fateh Hotel in Khartoum

The Burj Al-Fateh Hotel, also known as the Corinthia Hotel, is one of the most prestigious structures in Khartoum. Its form is described as "Egg Building," yet it also resembles a billowing sail.

The resort is situated at the meeting point of the White Nile, which flows north from Lake Victoria, and the Blue Nile, which flows west from Ethiopia, in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.

What Is Happening in Sudan Recently?

After weeks of tension, fighting broke out on Saturday between the army and the powerful paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

They were both allies. They all joined together to stage a coup in 2021. Nonetheless, tensions rose in response to the RSF's intended military integration.

Although confrontations are reported all around the country, the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, is where most of the fighting is taking place.

In the first three days, thousands of people have been injured, and at least 185 people have been killed.

The UN, the Arab League, the U.S, the U.K, and the EU have all called for an end to the violence that broke out in Sudan following a dispute between opposing military leaders.
