Who Is Torcida?

A group of Zagreb-based students founded Torcida on October 28, 1950, with the intention of staging an unprecedented spectacle to support their club before a match against Red Star Belgrade.

They were inspired by the impressive display of Brazilian fans during the 1950 World Cup and decided to adopt the Brazilian Portuguese word for "supporters" as their name. The group started with just over 100 students and has since grown to thousands.

Torcida is well-known for its innovative choreography, chants, and pyrotechnics, which create a unique atmosphere in the north stand behind the goal at Poljud stadium. The group has established branches in various countries, primarily among Croatian communities but not limited to them.

Napoli Wins First Italian Serie A Title in 33 Years

After a 33-year wait, Napoli secured their Italian Serie A title by drawing 1-1 against Udinese on Thursday. With five games left, they needed just a draw to take an insurmountable 16-point lead. The league's top scorer, Victor Osimhen, scored the equalizing goal for Napoli in the 52nd minute, prompting ecstatic celebrations in Naples and beyond.

This is Napoli's third Serie A championship and their first since Diego Maradona led them to victory in 1987 and 1990. The team's home stadium was renamed in honor of the legendary Argentine player after he passed away in November 2020.

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti acknowledged Maradona's impact on the team's success, saying that "his influence was felt in this triumph."
