This Photo Dates Back to the 2021 Israel-Gaza Clash
Contrary to circulating claims, the photo dates back to May 15, 2021.
Palestine Today, a media outlet, published the photo in an article.
The Quds News Network, a media outlet, also uploaded the video to Twitter on May 15, 2021.
According to the video’s caption, the footage shows the effects of a missile falling on the "Ramat Gan" area in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israel-Gaza Clashes in May 2021
From May 10 to May 21, 2021, Gaza experienced its most intense conflict since 2014, as Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip. The violence resulted in the loss of many civilian lives and injuries in Gaza, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes. Essential infrastructure and residences were severely damaged or destroyed, leading to significant disruptions in the provision of essential services.
The escalation in hostilities followed a period of escalating tensions in East Jerusalem, triggered by Israeli-imposed restrictions on Palestinian access to holy sites during Ramadan and the threat of forced eviction of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah by Israeli authorities.
Recent Israeli Bombing of Gaza
Israel conducted a series of airstrikes on Gaza on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 individuals, including three members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement. Palestinian authorities reported that women and four children were among those killed.
In response to the renewed bombardment on Wednesday, Gaza launched a barrage of retaliatory rocket fire towards southern Israel.
Hamas spokesperson Abdulatif al-Qanoo' stated to the Palestinian Maan news agency that the rockets fired from Gaza are part of a unified resistance. He described them as a response to the "massacre committed by the Zionist occupation" and emphasized their role in self-defense.
