Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the two circulating photos and found the claims to be misleading.
After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found that the two photos were not taken in Gaza.
The First Photo Features A Dead Yemeni Child
The first photo features a deceased child from Yemen. It is important to note that the kid was tragically killed by the Houthis in 2017.
The same photo was published by the local media outlet nuun.asia in an article on November 26, 2017.
The Middle East Observer released another photograph of the same kid on May 26, 2017, within an article titled “Yemen: scores of civilians killed by Houthi shells in Taiz.”
The Second Photo Is Also from Yemen
The second photo was also shot in Yemen, and it shows a devastating building due to Houthi shells in Taiz.
The Arabic renowned writer Adham Sharkawi published the photo on Twitter on November 10, 2020.
On November 14, 2020, the media outlet Yemen New Now also released an identical photo. Based on the information accompanying the photo, it was taken in Taiz, Yemen, following the destructive impact of Houthi shells in the area.
Houthis Target Residential Areas in Taiz, Yemen
Residential areas in Taiz were subjected to intense shelling by Houthi militias, resulting in the injury and death of numerous civilians, including women and children.
The Human Rights Ministry urged the United Nations and human rights organizations to apply pressure and take a firm stance against these militias and their atrocities targeting civilians. They also called for the necessary actions to condemn the militias and put an end to their destructive actions.
The medical non-governmental organization Doctors Without Borders revealed that they had treated many patients with war-related injuries in Taiz within a single day. The majority of those affected were women and children.
Israeli Aggression Continues in Gaza
The recent killing of Ahmed Abu Daqqa, a high-ranking commander of the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, marks the fifth senior figure from the faction to be killed since Israel initiated its attacks on Gaza on Tuesday.
According to the Gaza health ministry, as of 6:00 PM on Thursday, the death toll rose to 28 deaths and 86 injuries due to the Israeli airstrikes on the Strip
In Washington, the White House has announced that National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had a conversation with Israeli counterpart Tzachi Hanegbi, during which the United States reaffirmed its unwavering support for Israel's security.
Amid escalating tensions in the Gaza Strip, Egypt has been engaging in mediation efforts. Senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official Mohammad al-Hindi is reportedly in Cairo, participating in truce discussions aimed at bringing an end to the ongoing fighting, as reported by Reuters.
