Social media users circulated three photos amid the ongoing clashes between Israel and Gaza.
The first photo shows a devastating Israeli building in Ashkelon after being hit by a rocket from Gaza.
The other two photos feature the Iron Dome's attempt to intercept rockets fired from Gaza.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the three photos and found the claim to be misleading.
After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photos making the rounds to be outdated.
Photo Shows a Bombed Ukrainian Building
The first photo does not show a severely damaged building in Ashkelon, Israel that occurred recently.
The Guardian included the same photo in an article and said that it portrays the aftermath of a Russian missile attack on a building in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
On December 20, 2022, photographer Mykola Synelnykov shot the photo for Reuters.
Outdated Photos of the Iron Dome
Social media users circulated two similar photos featuring the Israeli Iron Dome's attempt to intercept a rocket fired from Gaza.
The two photos are old and date back to the May 2021 Israeli aggression on Gaza. The photo was shot above the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon.
On May 11, 2021, photographer Jack Guez captured the two photos for AFP.
Another photo shows Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system attempting to intercept a barrage of rockets launched by the Hamas movement from Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip.
On May 14, 2021, photographer Anas Baba shot the photo for AFP.
Israel's Aggression on Gaza Intensifies
Palestinian medical officials have reported that on the fourth consecutive day of Israeli airstrikes on the blockaded Gaza Strip, at least two Palestinians have lost their lives and several others have been injured.
Local media stated that one of the casualties was a high-ranking member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). This incident brings the total number of Palestinian fatalities during this week's bombardment to at least 33, including multiple children, while over 110 individuals have been wounded.
Jennifer Austin, the director of operations in the Gaza field office for the UN refugee agency (UNRWA), emphasized that the humanitarian situation is already extremely severe.
