A Disabled Man in Udupi Averted a Major Tragedy
In October 2018, Krishna Poojary, a 53-year-old daily wage laborer in Udupi, noticed a broken train track and took immediate action. Despite a physical ailment causing him to limp, Poojary ran a distance of six kilometers to alert railway authorities. When the railway team arrived at the location, they discovered that the track gap had already widened and that a train from Goa was approaching.
Upon learning that a train from Goa was on its way, the railway authorities immediately contacted other stations, warning them of the impending danger while simultaneously working to fix the track.
