Emerging story
Social media users recently shared a video that allegedly shows an alien creature captured by a security camera in Las Vegas.
The video has gone viral and garnered millions of views online.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be fake.
The video is not real and was created using computer-generated imagery.
Alleged Alien Footage Features a CGI Clip
A reverse image search led Misbar’s team to the original publisher of the video on TikTok.
“owltresstump,” a TikTok account, published the video on June 9.
The video’s caption reads, "Smh knew I should not investigate noises outside."
According to the video’s hashtags, the footage is a 3D animation made with a blender, which is computer technology that enables the production of three-dimensional graphics.
Upon investigating the creator's profile on the platform, Misbar's team discovered that the publisher specializes in producing visual effects, and several of their videos have accumulated millions of views.
In contrast to the viral video, the original footage was initially released without any accompanying background voice.
Subsequently, Misbar's team conducted an investigation into the background voice heard in the circulating video and discovered that it had been extracted from a YouTube video discussing a recent report titled, "Las Vegas family claims to see aliens after several report something falling from sky."
On June 8, 8 News Now Las Vegas released the video report.
Las Vegas Family Alleged to See Aliens
A family residing in Las Vegas has made a claim regarding an object crashing in their backyard, leading them to contact emergency services due to the presence of "non-human" entities.
On the night of April 30, a police officer from the Las Vegas Metro captured footage on their body camera of a fast-moving object streaking across the sky. The flash was observed by several people in eastern California, Nevada, and Utah, as reported by the American Meteor Society.
Around 40 minutes after the sighting, a man contacted emergency services, informing them that he and his family had witnessed an object descending from the sky and that two mobile entities were present in their backyard located in the northwest valley.
As of June 7, police investigations into the incident did not yield any clear answers, and the case has since been closed.
What Is CGI?
Computer-generated imagery, commonly known as CGI, is the process of generating visual content, either still or animated, using computer software. It is also referred to as 3D imaging or 3D rendering.
CGI primarily involves the use of 3D computer graphics to create characters, environments, and special effects for movies, television shows, and video games. Unlike traditional photography, where images are captured using film or digital cameras, computer-generated images are produced using specialized software.
While CGI is often associated with three-dimensional (3D) outputs, it is also capable of creating two-dimensional (2D) effects.
