The Video of Tanks Was Shot in Canada
Misbar's team conducted further investigation and found that the original video was actually published on TikTok on June 12, 2023. The TikTok user @freedom.wayne shared the clip with the caption, "100s of Tanks Show Up in Montreal Quebec!"
There was no mention of U.S. military activity in the caption provided.
Through research on the Canadian Army's latest training exercise, Misbar's team discovered a government website providing information about "Maple Resolve." This exercise is described as the "Canadian Army's largest and most complex training exercise of 2023." The exercise was conducted from May 8 to May 22.
Canadian Armed Forces’ Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE
From May 8 to May 22, 2023, Exercise MAPLE RESOLVE 23 took place in Wainwright, Alberta, involving around 2,500 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner military personnel. As the Canadian Army's largest and most intricate training exercise of the year, it prepares soldiers for various capacities, including combat operations, in support of Canadians.
The primary objective was to ensure readiness for any operation or deployment in defense of Canada or Canadian interests. The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) provided aircraft, including helicopters, and personnel support.
Approximately 400 soldiers from the United States and the United Kingdom also participated, contributing to enhanced interoperability. MAPLE RESOLVE aimed to prepare Canadian Army soldiers to mobilize as a brigade alongside allied and partner forces.
