Misbar investigated the viral claim and found it to be Fake.

While the Italian authorities have given the green light for holding the face-off between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg within Italy, they have refrained from permitting it to occur in Rome, where the iconic Colosseum is located.

Italy's Minister of Culture Refuted the Claim of a Musk Vs. Zuckerberg Fight

According to media outlets, Italian authorities have shown a willingness to have their country host a charity cage fight involving Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. This development seems to bring closer to reality the somewhat uncertain fight, which some question as a joke, between the two tech billionaire figures.

Nevertheless, in contrast to Musk's recent assertion that the cage match will take place in "ancient Rome," Italy's Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, clarified that the event will not be held in Rome due to ongoing maintenance work.

According to the Guardian, the statements of the Italian Minister of Culture came after discussions he had during the week with Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) promotion company. White discussed with the Ministry of Culture the possibility of organizing the match between Musk and Zuckerberg at the Colosseum in Rome.

Elon Musk’s Earlier Talks With Italy's Minister of Culture

Earlier, Musk shared an update on Twitter, offering what appeared to be specifics about the cage match involving him and Meta CEO Zuckerberg. Musk conveyed, "The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta... Everything in camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location."

"Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy. And all proceeds go to veterans," Musk added.

The Story Behind the Cage Fight

The business magnates Elon Musk, 52, and Mark Zuckerberg, 39, have engaged in banter about a potential fight over the past two months. Zuckerberg, who recently achieved success in a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament, seems fully inclined to step into the ring. Earlier this week, Zuckerberg indicated that he initially suggested August 26 as a possible date for the fight.

Musk's level of seriousness is less evident. Following his announcement that the fight would take place in Italy, he shared the quote "Dulce est desipere in loco," which translates to "It is delightful to play the fool occasionally" from Horace's "Odes."

On Sunday, Musk stated that the exact fight date "is still flux. I’m getting an MRI of my neck & upper back tomorrow. May require surgery before the fight can happen." In June, Musk wrote, "I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus,’ where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing."

On August 15, Musk accused Zuckerberg of refusing to agree to the location of the fight that Italy had suggested.

Colosseum History

Situated just to the east of the Roman Forum, the colossal stone amphitheater recognized as the Colosseum was commissioned during the years A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vespasian of the

Flavian dynasty as a gift to the Roman populace. In A.D. 80, Vespasian's son, Titus, inaugurated the Colosseum—formally referred to as the Flavian Amphitheater—with a grand spectacle spanning 100 days, featuring gladiatorial contests and ferocious animal battles.

Following four centuries of active utilization, this magnificent arena fell into disrepair, and up until the 18th century, it was dismantled for its building materials. While a significant portion of the original Colosseum has eroded over time, the amphitheater continues to draw numerous tourists, remaining both a cherished attraction and an emblematic representation of Rome and its complex, extensive history.
