Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral video and found it to be misleading.

The video does not show Hamas fighters but Israeli special forces.

These Are Israeli Special Forces, Not Hamas Brigades

Looking at the uniform of the armed group in the video, Misbar’s team found that the shooters were Israelis, not from Hamas. Their uniform matches the uniform of the Israeli forces.

The labels on the arms of the armed group in the video show the flag of Israel with Hebrew writing: “משטרת ישראל,” which means Police of Israel, along with the emblem of the Israeli police.

Furthermore, the Hamas fighters, Al-Qassam, uniform differs in shape and color from the one shown in the viral video. It has the logo of Al-Qassam in Arabic on the chest: “كتائب القسام,” which means, Al-Qassam Brigades. Also, they often wear a green band on their heads, which can not be seen in the viral video.

The Video Shows Clashes Between Al-Qassam Brigades And The Israeli Forces During Operation Al-Aqsa Flood

Misbar’s team traced the video and found that it was shared on Saturday, October 7, by a Hebrew Telegram channel for news, at 9:22 a.m., three hours from the beginning of the operation, along with the caption, “צפו מחבלים מבצעים ירי לעבר כוחות הבטחון,” which means, “Watch: Terrorists shoot at the security forces.” This suggests that the video shows clashes between Israeli security forces, who are outside the building, and Al-Qassam Brigades who seem to be inside the building.

Also, Aljazeera shared the same clip confirming that these are clashes between Israeli forces and members of Al-Qassam at one of the buildings at the Israeli settlements near Gaza.

The Palestinian Resistance Inside The Israeli Settlements Near Gaza

As the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood began on Saturday, October 7, morning, the Palestinian resistance in Gaza infiltrated several illegal Israeli settlements near Gaza. The fighters took off from Gaza in paragliders and descended onto Israeli colonies.

They attacked Israeli troops and kidnapped some of them. Abu Obeida, the military spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades declared after about 12 hours of the operation, “We hold tens of Israeli prisoners, including high-ranking officers and soldiers. All captured Israelis are in safe areas and some of them are placed in the Resistance tunnels.”

The number of kidnapped Israelis is still not confirmed, and Palestinian resistance is still inside the Israeli settlements.
