The Video Shows An Israeli Airstrike on Gaza in May 2023, Not Recently
On May 13, 2023, during an Israeli escalation in Gaza, several journalists shared the clip in the claim along with the caption, “Israeli bombing destroys the Tafesh family home in the Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood, south of Gaza City.”
Hassan Eslayeh, a Gazan journalist, shared the same clip on May 13, 2023.
The Palestinian Information Center also shared the clip back then confirming that it was an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in Gaza, on May 13, 2023.
Israeli Escalation In May 2023
On May 9, 2023, Israel launched targeted airstrikes assaulting three senior commanders of the Islamic Jihad in their homes, leading to the killing of 10 civilians. Four women and four children were among the victims. Following these events, a new round of escalation started and lasted for 5 days ending on May 13.
In the Gaza Strip, 33 Palestinians were killed, including 16 females and 2 children, and 190 Palestinians were injured, including 64 children and 38 women. A total of 2,943 housing units sustained damage, including 103 destroyed according to the Ministry of Public Works. Meanwhile, in Israel, one Israeli woman and one Palestinian worker from Gaza were killed and 40 were injured as reported by Israeli medical sources.
Israel's Airstrikes on Gaza During Al-Aqsa Flood
Israel has not stopped bombing Gaza’s buildings since October 7, following the infiltration of Hamas and other Palestinian factions into the Israeli colonies near Gaza. Israeli airstrikes wiped out several blocks in Gaza. Hundreds of people lost their homes. According to UNRWA, more than 74,000 Palestinians are sheltering in the agency’s schools across the Gaza Strip. Still, Israel targeted a school in the Al-Shati refugee camp.
According to the last statistics of losses by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, on Tuesday, October 10, at 10:30 p.m., 900 were killed, and 4500 were injured due to the continuous Israeli bombs on the Gaza Strip.
