Misbar’s team found that the video dates back to December 2022 and the provided subtitles are not true. Contrary to the claim, the Russian president was not talking about the war in Gaza, but he was discussing the matter of using nuclear weapons.
During his Human Rights Council, Putin talked about the strategy of using nuclear weapons on Ukraine as, according to him, a means of protection. He stated that nuclear weapons are weapons of mass destruction and Russia will not strike first under any circumstances, but Russia’s strategy is to consider using them.
The clip was shared by several news outlets back in December 2022, providing true subtitles that confirm Putin was discussing the nuclear threats.
Russia About The War In Gaza
On Tuesday, October 11, Vladimir Putin expressed his concern about the catastrophic increase in the number of killed in Israel and the Gaza Strip during the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. He stated that the U.S. policy failed in the Middle East, and Washington had sought to “monopolize” efforts at the settlement process between Israel and Palestine but did not seek to find compromises acceptable to both sides.
Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called for Israelis and Palestinians to “immediately cease fire, renounce violence, and show the necessary restraint.” She also called for a negotiation process for “lasting and long-awaited peace” with the help of the international community.
She also stated that the long-lasting Israeli-Palestinian conflict "can not be solved by force, but only by diplomatic means," emphasizing that Moscow is seeking for negotiations "for the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace and security with Israel."
