Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral footage and found the claim to be misleading.

After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the circulating video to be unrelated to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

The Video Was Shot in Syria, Not in Gaza

Contrary to the circulating claim, the video is unrelated to the ongoing operation. The video shows intense bombardment by Assad forces targeting the city of Ariha, south of Idlib, Syria.
Shaam News Network published the original video on October 7, as being shot in Idlib, Syria.

Ahmed Rahhal, a Syrian journalist, published the video on his X account. He commented, saying that the footage shows intensive artillery and missile shelling by the Syrian regime for the third consecutive day targeting the entire city of Ariha, with the death toll reaching 33, most of them women and children, as a result of three days of continuous shelling in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib.

Israel Intensifies Its Bombardment of Gaza

The Israeli military has launched one of its most extensive aerial bombardments on Gaza. Israel also declared a "total blockade" on Gaza, imposing restrictions on food and fuel. It sparks concerns about a potential ground operation. Such a blockade, aimed at depriving the population, is deemed a war crime under U.N. statutes.

The current death toll stands at 687 Palestinians in Gaza and over 800 Israelis. In addition, 17 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank, and four Hezbollah fighters lost their lives in Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon.

Hamas's surprise attack follows recent Israeli settler incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and a significant number of Palestinian casualties caused by Israeli actions in recent months.
